Tinnitus Therapy

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”What is Tinnitus? ” color=”blue” style=”double”][vc_column_text]Tinnitus (pronounced tih-NITE-us or TIN-ih-tus) is a noise in your ears that is not caused by an external sound. The noise in your ear most commonly sounds like ringing. Occasionally, the noise could sound like clicking, hissing, roaring, or even buzzing. The location of the noise also differs from person to person. Tinnitus can be found in either one or both ears and sound like it is close or far away. Headaches and dizziness are the most common side effects of tinnitus. If you find yourself with a combination of these issues, you might have tinnitus.

Tinnitus is a common issue: you are not alone. According to the Mayo Clinic, roughly 15-20% of people will get tinnitus as they age.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]There is not a single cause for tinnitus.

As people age, tiny sensory hair cells in the cochlea of the inner ear that process sound begin to deteriorate naturally. This can occur because of prolonged exposure to loud noises or is due to more natural factors. As the tiny sensory cells in the cochlea are the start of processing sound, hearing loss tends to be found in people with tinnitus.

In severe cases, tinnitus can be caused by a circulatory system disorder where a blood vessel near the inner ear pops.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

There is no actual cure for tinnitus, but we can offer you remedies and therapy to reduce its effects.

You can find many self-treatments for tinnitus on the web, but there is no true cure for tinnitus. We can only offer remedies to help reduce the effects on tinnitus. One of the most popular therapies we provide is sound therapy.

At Residential Hearing Services, we provide a diagnostic evaluation of your tinnitus. From there, we will help with sound therapy and, if necessary, fit you with hearing aids.

For more information on hearing aids, please find our Hearing Aids page.

If you feel that you may have tinnitus or would like to be evaluated for another hearing issue, please call our office or schedule an appointment online.
